You Have Questions, We Have Answers.

Does my child need prior Montessori experience?

No! The greatest thing about a primary class is that a child is still in a phase of development where s/he is absorbing the world. We handle introducing your child to the environment and materials and ensure that presentations are planned according to each child's specific developmental needs.

Do you offer financial aid?

Yes. We have a strong equity principle. We are committed to providing a high-quality Montessori education to underserved populations. If you are interested in applying, please email info@dahliamontessorinj.org.

Why Montessori?

Dr. Montessori’s original observations of children, over one hundred years ago, stand true today: that children are naturally good, naturally peaceful, and naturally motivated to learn. The scientific principles of observation, analysis, reflection, and action helped her to develop specific materials and methods for serving children at each developmental stage. We believe these same principles can be used in Montessori classrooms today, to serve the children in the environment and to help translate Montessori’s original vision to the demands of our modern world.

Is there a parent education component? If so, what does it look like?

Yes. We are committed to blurring the lines between school and home. We host family community nights several times throughout the year, in which we share our parenting experiences and shed some light on Montessori theory. We also welcome parents into the classroom as observers and strongly encourage participation in volunteer activities throughout the year. We are building out a parent library, as well, in which you are welcomed to check out books.

Does my child need to be potty trained?

To maintain each child’s privacy and dignity, we ask that all students have independence with toileting. Should your child need assistance in the restroom, we, of course, will be able to help.

What about when my child ages out? Is there a plan for an elementary Montessori?

Yes! We are part of the Wildflower Foundation, which is a decentralized network of schools. Sea Lavender is an elementary Montessori program located in Belmar, NJ. It is run by two long-time Montessorians, one of whom is also a Montessori trainer and hosts a Montessori Podcast. We are happy to connect you with the Sea Lavender team to discuss your child’s transition from primary to elementary.

I’m pregnant and/or I have a toddler. Do you offer anything for younger students?

Currently, Dahlia Montessori only offers a primary program. In the meantime, also part of the Wildflower Network, is Lily Montessori. Lily offers parent-child classes for infants-toddlerhood. We are happy to connect you with the director.
